Commuter Student Meal Information
At orientation, commuter students receive 1 electronically encoded meal card:
- Dining Dollars Card: Used for lunch, Monday-Friday, in various on-campus eateries
If you are scheduled to take a field trip that runs the whole day, lunch will be provided.
Parking Permit
At orientation, commuter students receive a parking permit that allows you to park on-campus in designated lots. Please read the posted signs in the parking lots. If you do not park in the correct lot, you will receive a campus parking ticket. You may use disabled parking spaces only if you have a current campus-parking permit and a state-issued disabled permit and/or license plate.
Seminars & Program Activities
Your commuter course package underwrites the costs of all scheduled program-related activities. This fee is charged whether you decide to attend these activities or not. We do not pro-rate. As a commuter student, you must make additional effort to return to campus to enjoy these evening and weekend activities. Upon the completion of the program, we ask students to complete a survey. Over the past six years, these surveys demonstrate that those students who fully participated in the scheduled events were the ones with the highest satisfaction rating. You are encouraged to attend and participate to the fullest.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
The University provides a full range of services and accommodations to assist disabled students. Upon acceptance into the program, students seeking assistance should contact Eric Johnson, Program Coordinator in the Office of Extended Studies, e-mail johnsone@umd.edu, or phone 301-405-1027. Only students who identify their disabilities well in advance can be assured of proper accommodation upon their arrival on campus.
Miscellaneous
Spending Money: The course package fee covers most course expenses. About $50 per week should cover incidental expenses (e.g., gifts, snacks, supplies, etc.). Books and other supplies are not included in the package price unless specified.
“Mentors were also very mature and friendly. Great! Registration process was very “user friendly”. The facilities were all very accommodating.”
