Consortium Students
The Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area includes:
- American University
- Catholic University
- Gallaudet University
- George Mason University
- George Washington University
- Georgetown University
- Howard University
- Joint Military Intelligence College
- Marymount University
- National Defense University
- Trinity College
- University of the District of Columbia
- University of Maryland, College Park
Students enrolled in these institutions can attend certain classes at other campuses and have the credit considered “resident” credit at their own school. Payment of tuition* for courses is made at the student’s home campus. Any eligible degree seeking graduate or undergraduate student can participate in this program with the exception of the following:
*participation in Consortium courses may result in additional tuition and fees.
- Golden ID students are not eligible to enroll in courses through the Consortium with waiver of fees.
- Neither the faculty and staff tuition remission program (this includes assistantships, fellowships, etc.) nor the partial tuition waiver program for spouses and dependent of University of Maryland employees may be used for courses taken through the Consortium.
- Continuing Education courses cannot be taken through the Consortium.
Students whose fees are remitted through these programs and who are interested in enrolling in courses at Consortium schools will be expected to pay for the course(s) at the appropriate College Park credit hours rate for the semester in which they enroll.
Procedures for Consortium Visiting Students
Students from other Consortium schools may register for University of Maryland, College Park courses on a space available basis beginning with the first day of classes for the semester. Visiting Consortium students are not eligible to register for Instructional Television courses, professional education courses or Continuing Education courses, or courses offered at off campus locations.
Students will be expected to meet all prerequisites of College Park courses. Also, prior approval will be required for courses restricted to special College Park majors and permission only courses. See individual course listings for course restriction information. Visiting students must register at both their home campus and at College Park.
- Contact the College Park Consortium Coordinator, Room 1113 Mitchell Building, 301-314-8239.
- Complete a Schedule Request form with desired courses. A visiting student cannot audit any College Park courses.
- Present the third copy of the Consortium registration form completed by your home campus to the College Park Consortium Coordinator.
- The coordinator will officially register you for the University of Maryland, College Park courses on the first day of classes for the term. Please keep copies of the Schedule Request/Schedule Adjustment form for your records.
- If the course is canceled, or if you change or drop the course, contact the Consortium Coordinators at both the visiting campus and your home campus immediately.
