Withdrawal from the University

Students who cancel registration from all their courses either on or after the first day of classes must formally withdraw. This applies to all students regardless of the number of courses or credits for which they are registered. A notation of withdrawal (“W”) and the effective date will be posted to the student’s academic record. Cancellation of all courses (and a full tuition refund) is possible only if the cancellation is processed prior to the first day of classes. Degree-seeking students at the University of Maryland may consult the withdrawal policy here.

A withdrawal from all classes may be submitted at any time between the first and no later than the last day of classes. Withdrawals may be submitted to the Office of the Registrar as follows:

  • In Person: Complete a withdrawal form, Student Services, 1st Floor, Mitchell Building
  • Via Fax: Provide your name, address, student identification number, statement of withdrawal, to 301-314-9568.

Tuition credit will be initiated according to the effective date recorded by the Office of the Registrar.

Please Note

Withdrawals from workshops or institutes must be made prior to the first meeting in order to receive any refund.
